Weapons handling
Personal protection and safety doesn’t (and shouldn’t) always call for the use of firearms. Where guns aren’t warranted, but some form of armed protection is needed, sticks and knives are a tried and true effective alternative.
Tactical Arts has developed courses of over a decade’s worth of experience that highlight techniques in Kali Escrima and Pencak Silat edged weapons fighting. Details of practicality behind the techniques are below:
Escrima fighting is noted for its speed and practicality. As a weapon-based martial art, a strong advantage of escrima is that it allows you to both defend with a weapon as well as enabling you to defend against a weapon. Additionally, the range of distance between you and your opponent is greater than that of hand-to-hand combat, which generally lends itself to slightly longer response time.
The edged weapons techniques and movements are designed to be simple, direct, and effective - the simplicity of the techniques make them easy to learn and apply in real-world situations. With a heavy emphasis placed on footwork and positioning, practitioners are trained to move in a way that positions them to attack or defend with cuts while avoiding their opponent's attacks.
